Baghdad daytime curfew ordered
Scotsman.com
This is really awful. I've experienced nighttime curfews, even on my own Prom night! But daytime curfew is really something very exceptional. Sounds almost like a desperate move.
I'm still convinced that it was a poor thing to go invade Iraq in the name of protecting the lives of American citizens (so the war won't have to be fought in American soil). Or was it to bring democracy to the oppressed people of Iraq? Huh, who cares!
The thing is that the people of Iraq were living under oppression, poorly, unsafely, etc. even without the Americans having to spend their federal taxes at a rate of US$1 Billion a week. Why spend all that money just to see that they'll still live oppressed, poorly, unsafely, etc.?
This is senseless.
I have some American friends who are nice people, really nice people I should point, but they tell me that their adult son doesn't have medical insurance. How about spending half billion dollars a week ensuring everybody in the States gets health insurance? And how about using the other half a billion dollars per week on better education for all?
