U.S. general's remarks contradict Cheney on strength of insurgency

After reading this article, you get the message: There's no known reasonable withdrawal date in sight, and rushing one "would be catastrophic". Isn't this the definition of "quagmire"? Wouldn't things be much better for everybody if Iraq hadn't been invaded in the first place?

Why is it that most Americans couldn't see "the light" on time and reject this illegal war before it started unprovoked?

Even I personally know some Americans whom I used to think rather well educated who seemed to think that it was almost their human right to have their government go attack (unprovoked) Iraq "in order to protect lives in America".

How shameful.
